Or finally, how about when you are looking at purchasing a home and you would like to avoid costly renovations by looking for a home that can easily be updated to current trends. Of course it could be there is no good reason – just that we are curious as to what is trending.
So as an intro to next week’s launch of Trending Tuesdays let’s start with one of the favorite rooms in the house – the kitchen. What is trending for 2017 in kitchen design?
For counter tops and backsplashes consider both color and material. Colors in shades of grey are very much a trend in 2017. Grey is a neutral giving you the opportunity to add pops of color in appliances – both in the large appliances and also in small countertop appliances.
Traditional subway tiles can be used in the backsplash however consider using them in a herringbone pattern for a modern twist. Or perhaps try a penny tile which has traditionally been used as a bathroom floor tile. Glass tiles are another option that is still trending for 2017.
For the countertop you may want to consider quartz as a trending material for 2017. Although granite has been a popular choice for years, quartz has some advantages over granite. Quartz is a composite of 93% natural stone with a polymer resin added. This makes quartz a very durable countertop that doesn’t need sealing like granite does. Not a fan of quartz? Other popular choices trending for 2017 are butcher block, a natural stone such as limestone or marble, or ceramic tile.
