Bowl season and the college football playoff will be starting this week, so what are some of the notable bowl games since there are so many?
Unless you love any college football or have a rooting interest, the first week (starting Saturday) of bowls is pretty blah. Next Saturday though has a few potential attention getting matches. Arizona State vs Duke should have tons of scoring. While they were disappointments this year, the ever present Miami drama vs Steve Spurrier and South Carolina looks to be an exciting matchup. Nebraska vs USC also could be worth your while as those are quite popular teams.
Arkansas vs Texas on the 29th also could be a noteworthy game as those are big name programs trying to rebuild. The 30th has LSU vs Notre Dame, having ND get crushed and put in their place by an SEC team is always a plus in my book. Also, Louisville vs Georgia could be worth watching as both had really solid years.
On New Years Eve is where the great bowls start. Ole Miss vs “snubbed” TCU could be real good. Boise State is back to its BCS busting self and will face Arizona in the Fiesta Bowl. And the day finishes with Mississippi State vs Georgia Tech.
On New Years Day, the early games are Auburn vs Wisconsin, always an interesting matchup in contrasting styles. Michigan State vs Baylor also could be awesome .
Then the playoffs start, Oregon vs Florida State and Alabama vs Ohio State. Oregon should be able to show what a fraud FSU is this year and, poor Ohio State losing 2 starting QBs this year. Would be one of the greatest upsets in college if they can somehow beat Alabama and Nick Saban.
